Open spaces

Endless roads

Pine trees forever

Wooden houses painted red

Volvos and Saabs

Skinny dipping in the Baltic

Crispbread

People who know how to live in five hours of daylight, and who delight in 20 hours of daylight

Yellow on blue – the flag in front of every house, it seems

The well cared for graveyard

The Harley riders

The people welcomed from the world’s troubled countries

The work of pioneers – Lena-Kristina Tuulse and the Wäxthuset movement

Haunting folk music; easy to imagine it has been played for hundreds of years

The open discussion about sex

The big sky – reminds me of Australia and the Mid-West

The lingering light and the eternal sunset of midsummer

Berries, apples, flowers – the abundance of the gardens

People making a difference – drug rehab, rebuilding shattered lives (it’s not all paradise in Sweden)

The Life University

Wooden floors, wooden walls

Knowledge that the warmth of summer will soon go

Space, endless forests and water at every turn

  1. Creme de la Mer! Knolly, you may not be surprised to hear that I was once tempted by the promise of youthful skin in a jar – in the days when I spent a few hours in airports being a ‘business woman’……A few folk commented that I looked ‘well’ but I decided that there were better things to spend my money on…….like shoes! Love your frivolous friend, Lisa X
