Three great deeds

My wife wanted to attend a course last weekend, and have some time away. At two weeks notice, my ex-boss, Gillian and a former colleague, Greta, offered to come to our house and spend the weekend with Valentina, Sebastian and I. It was great for everyone. Here is a copy of what I posted on Facebook: Massive thanks to Greta, Gillian and Gilles for giving Valentina, Sebastian (buddy, munchkin, kiddo) and I a fantastic weekend while Jane got a break. Road tennis, frisbee, Uno to death, staring competitions, Gangnam Style, Abba, Queen, great meals, baking marble cake, loads of laughs, political discussion, ‘Golf Mom’, West Herts Golf Club, great visit from Gilles, luxury car transport (BMX X5 or Jag convertible?), air mattress and trundle bed, visit to Lisa’s to see puppy Frank, great advice, support in the hard times, lunch at Zizzi, washing up, clearing up, getting the sticks, holding the doors. True friendship, real kindness and generosity. Thank you very much!!

A former customer contacted me with information about a possible trial related to ALS. More than that he reminded me that doing well with this condition is very much a mind game. He detected a weakening of mind through one of my blogs. How fantastic.

Over the past few months I have got to know the groundsman at Kings Langley Common. He asked “how many laps today?” I said just one. I told him it was harder to walk in the now longer grass, and he said he would cut it lower where the cricket boundary is. “It’s what I can do”, he said. I feel another lap is coming.
