Thanks Jana

One of my carers left today. Thank you Jana for your incredible work. I will remember the German expressions, good humour and professionalism. You also introduced me to Slayer and Slipknot, both of whom make me appreciate my music even more. Still, it’s a free world. You painted a vivid picture of life in East Germany during the communist times and when the wall came down. Winds of Change by The Scorpions.

For everyone to see, here is the reference I wrote for Jana.

Jana was one of my main carers at Water Mill House Care Home in the twelve months to April 2018. I have Motor Neurone Disease and no use of arms, hands, legs, voice and I am PEG fed. Jana undertook moving & handling, personal care, PEG feeding, Non-invasive ventilation, wheelchair driving and non-verbal communication with me. She demonstrated a high degree of thoroughness, practicality and innovation in her work. She brings humour to work, essential when dealing with someone facing terminal illness.

Jana developed a great relationship with my wife and children, aged 11 and 15. She sometimes came to work on her day off, to do my personal care.
