At Waldorf schools the children are each given a verse for the year. They memorise the words and say the verse now and again. It was great to watch and listen as Sebastian learnt this in early September.
I wonder why the grass is green
And why the wind is never seen.
Who taught the birds to build a nest?
And told the trees to take a rest?
Oh, when the moon is not quite round,
Where can the missing bit be found?
Who lights the stars when they blow out?
And makes the lightning flash about?
Who paints the rainbows in the sky?
And hangs the fluffy clouds so high?
There is plenty of time for science as children grow older; while they are young, let them still have some wonder!
