Cool breeze, blue sky

Five o’clock, evening light,

Sun still warm.

Sebastian plays football on the Common. Long hair blows in the wind.

‘Sebastian, pass to me’.

A day of emotion; back to Newbury to meet my Vodafone colleagues;

A small talk; emotion there.

Familiar faces, great people; ‘Kopf hoch’,

Gratitude to Vodafone.

My taxi driver, Tas, escapes Bosnia in ’92…..16 years old;

20+ years in UK; builds a life, but not a journey he wanted or wishes on anyone;

His feeling for those displaced just now.

Back on the Common, a fresh breeze, then two boys come from Valentina’s class;

‘How are you, will the leg get better, oh I see’

My joy is watching you run and play;

‘Live every day like your last’; profound for a boy in his 13th year.

‘Oh my gosh, great kick Sebastian’.

  1. Andrew, thank you for coming to see us today. Thank you for sharing your feelings and observations with us. Not one of us left Newbury today without eyes open wider and I am sure many of us came home and hugged our loved ones a little tighter than usual. You are an inspiration to us all.

  2. Hi Andrew

    Your talk to us in Vodafone at Newbury was incredible and amazing . Your words to your colleagues had such a deep impact. All of us have you in our thoughts and prayers. You are a spiritual man and you will indeed be Ok. Continued strength of mind and spirit.

  3. Hi Andrew,

    It was great seeing and speaking to you again. I really admire your positive attitude in a time that must be the most difficult of your life. As said on Wednesday you are surprised of the kindness of the people around you. However what comer around goes around. So you are a great person and that’s why you’re receiving the kindness from other people. I wish you a lot of strength for what lies ahead and you can always give me a call for anything. Cheers mate. Alex
