Did this really happen?

I am adjusting to current level of mobility. There are new things every day. Today’s new thing was abuse from a man in his car.

I was standing in a car park talking with a friend (by the church in Chipperfield, for those who know it). I was a few feet behind a car. The car started to reverse, in my direction. Were it not for a bang on the window of the car by my friend, then the car would have reversed into me. I was not able to escape quickly.

The driver asked why we had hit his car, why we had not been standing on the ‘very large common’ and generally blamed us for the fact he nearly drove into me. I then advised him that perhaps he should check his rearview mirror prior to reversing. He then said that it was a car park. I shouted through his window that he should consider the example he was setting to his 5 (or so) year old daughter seated next to him.
