Idyllic world?

Over the years I have been delighted by the children’s books written by Elsa Beskow and Sibylle von Olfers. I unashamedly publicise their works in the hope that you may buy one of their books for a child you know. Their books were written around 100 years ago; both were great storytellers and artists. The stories tell often of a world we think we cannot see, and of the amazing natural world we have.

‘Peter’s New House’ by Elsa Beskow tells the story of a poor Swedish man with incredible talents and generosity, and how others helped him. ‘Woody, Hazel and Little Pip’ is an adventure story about acorn children. ‘Around The Year ‘ walks us through the seasons.

Sibylle von Olfers wrote about the cycle of the year in ‘The Story of The Root Children’. In ‘The Story of the Wind Children’ the wind children bring about amazing adventures.

Acorn children, wind children? What is this mumbo-jumbo? Idyllic world? Maybe, but who cares? When the fast-paced media has become too much, it is very nice to sit with one of these books.

You can buy them from Floris Books. Below are links to the bios, which are comprehensive.
