Nun Monkton

I’ve always said that the best way to enjoy big cities is to just sit in a cafe and watch it all happen. I am now realising that I can do that in places where it seems that nothing happens.

Earlier today I visited Nun Monkton, a small village near York with a pond, village green and a maypole. Sitting on a bench I watched the swallows, looked at the greens of the trees, watched the geese, listened to the bird song. Pretty good.

In the past I always had to be doing something. Now I have learned that sitting on a bench and taking in the show is great!
