Prayer for wisdom

Our children go to the Rudolf Steiner School Kings Langley, which has failed another Ofsted inspection.

Our children have been at the school 11 and 7 years respectively. They like their teachers, have all their friends there and feel completely comfortable. The school is a vibrant place with an uncertain future.

As a parent, I value the Steiner Waldorf method of education. It has benefited our children enormously. I would not move them to a different school.

The school is in a very difficult position, and I am not going to debate how it got there. Instead, a prayer.

Father God, I pray you will give wisdom to people involved in deciding the future of the school, that they may put the children first, may be creative, may be open minded, may be generous with money, may be humble to admit mistakes and be willing to learn. I pray this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, amen.

The irony of the situation for our family is that, while the school is failing inspections, it has delivered and is delivering a great experience for our two children. This does not belittle problems others have had. The last thing we need, with me having MND, is to change schools and education systems.

During the three and a half years I have had MND, we’ve been amazed how things work out. I know that the school will continue and that people will step up in ways they never thought possible. I love my children so much, and I pray that the school prospers.
