We did it!

I couldn’t quite believe that I was in Bogota. We met with the Amadeus general manager, Alvaro Gomez, a very nice man. He had previously ran a brewery. I love the way Colombians speak Spanish. I was only there one night, so didn’t get much of a flavour of the city. A former work colleague rode a tandem from the south to the north of South America, including Colombia. They had no problems in the country. Be careful of the Narcos stereotypes.

I definitely didn’t think England would win the penalty shoot out on July 3rd in the round of 16 in the 2018 World Cup. How could anyone cope with the pressure? England did win the shoot out, and I was making the strange, quiet noises I produce when I am really happy. We are a winning country. ‘We’ do have the mental strength, and great technique. Valentina was as excited as I was, as you can see from the photo.

Despite my life changing bet on Belgium, and for the avoidance of doubt, I am supporting England all the way.

Here is how The Sun saw it.
